The word Vitium is latin for flaw.
Vitium is a high end restaurant that addresses food waste by sourcing imperfect produce, and addresses hunger by donating meals to organizations that feed the hungry. The tension between perfection and imperfection is represented in all elements of Vitium's restaurant identity.
The wordmark is a revival based on Kristall Grotesque, a sans serif typeface originally cut by Wagner & Schmidt and released by Norddeutsche Schriftgießerei in 1936–38, and later by Johannes Wagner. Adobe Caslon Italic is used for the restaurant descriptor.
The symbol for Vitium is a carrot within a carrot, representing the restaurant’s use of imperfect produce.
Finally, ink prints of kale leaves create a custom pattern to further showcase the tension between perfection and imperfection.

A rich design language already exists in this world and it is interwoven into the consumer experience, starting with the gift box and continuing to the bottle itself. There are secret codes to decode, an actual dossier, hidden compartments, and so much more. So the closer you pay attention, the more intel you will uncover.

Camp Luxe is a high end approach to camp food. Camp Luxe aims to make the great outdoors delicious and is specifically designed for cooking when you go off the grid. The collection includes: a pour-over style deep roast coffee, twilight s'mores, fall harvest pasta kit and a gourmet pantry essentials kit. Reusable containers were specifically sourced.
The Camp Luxe logo and wordmark is based on Rouge Sans Medium. The “A” was stylized to evoke the shape of a camping tent or an A-frame cabin. Patterns inspired by topographic maps were incorporated into the design system.

Gnarligans Cheese Nuggets are Wisconsin style cheese curds made in California.
The all lowercase wordmark reflects the chunky shape and friendly attitude of these gnarly little cheese curds.
The wordmark is based on City Medium, a slab serif typeface designed by Georg Trump and released in 1930 Berthold type foundry. Traditional drafting tools were used to reinterpret and hand ink the wordmark. Final art work was vectorized in Illustrator.
The secondary typeface for the descriptor is Rift Soft Medium, designed by Mattox Shuler and released in 2016 by Fort Foundry.

Nine dynamic typophoto compositions with the words “precisely,” “to,” and “that.” Words were typeset by hand with type sourced and photocopied from type specimen books, as well as constructed from raw materials. Environment and textural photography was also explored in image making.

An experimental typeface that explores how the signature teardrop shape interacts with other geometric shapes to create knockouts. After several iterations, hand drawn sketches were transformed into a digital typeface. Color explorations were also conducted. This version of the typeface is available as a working OTF. Additional variants are currently in progress. A poster was developed to showcase the building blocks of this experimental design.
This poster was also featured in the “Made by Hand: The Original Digital Device” CCA Design Division End-of-Year Exhibition, 2016.
Type Design + Poster Design. Spring 2016.
Typographic compositions were constructed using letterforms as abstract elements. Letterforms were sourced and photocopied from type specimen books and image making was produced by hand with the aid of the photocopier and scanner. Other tools include: transparencies, ink and gouache. The design principles of symmetry, asymmetry, contrast, scale and positive-negative space where explored in creating these compositions.
